In recent years, business and economic partnerships between Ukraine and Norway have reached new heights. Several big Norwegian companies are already operating in Ukraine. Bilateral cooperation is also increasingly diversifying with new sectors and industries. More companies find synergies in joint activities, which brings greater benefits to both sides. However, there is significant potential for further development of such partnership, and we believe that the metal industry will be one of the crucial components of more in-depth collaboration between Norway and Ukraine in the nearest future.

NUCC together with its member and an internationally recognized law firm INTEGRITES and the Embassy of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Norway would like to invite you to a digital networking meeting about opportunities in the Ukrainian metallurgy sector for Norwegian companies.

HE Viacheslav Yatsiuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Norway, will open the session. Our colleagues from INTEGRITES, the National Investment Council and UkraineInvest will provide a brief overview of the legal framework for investments in Ukraine. We will look into the major reforms done in recent years and legislative priorities for 2021, as well as provide highlights of the legal framework in terms of the investment climate.

Further, we will go into more specifics of metal production with a focus on carbon-neutral production. Metal production is associated with considerable CO2-emissions: this is something that Ukrainian companies should look into if they want to start international collaborations or attract foreign investments. Since these emissions are not only tied to energy consumption but are a natural side-effect of the core metal producing processes, metallurgy is counted among the “hard-to-abate” sectors. Options are available, at various levels of development for various sectors, including sustainably sourced bio-carbon, hydrogen gas, electrolysis and others. Halvor Dalaker from the research institute SINTEF, who will present some of these options at our event.

The event will end up with digital networking, where it will be possible to present your own company and tell more about your company’s services.
