The Norwegian Agro-Food Market: Challenges and Opportunities

Considered for centuries as the “breadbasket of Europe”, Ukraine today possesses arable land which equals one third of all arable land of the EU. Nonetheless, it was always about quality, not quantity. Ukraine accounts for almost one third of the world’s most fertile black soil. With its abundance of fertile land and favourable climatic conditions, it is only natural that Ukraine is one of the world’s leading food exporters. At the same time Norway imported agricultural goods accounting over EUR 8 BILL last year (increase of 17% YoY). However, only a negligible fraction had Ukrainian origin – a global agricultural powerhouse.

NUCC and the Export Promotion Office of Ukraine, invite you all to join us 12th of May at 14:00 (CET, Oslo)/15:00 (Kyiv-time) when we discuss both opportunities and challenges for Ukrainian food producers looking to enter the Norwegian market.

Key speakers:

Olga Gvozdyova, Advisor in the Export Promotion Office of Ukraine. Ms Gvozdyova will open the event by providing a thorough presentation of the Norwegian economy, imports, internal market and opportunities for Ukrainian products on a new market.

Eivind Skjulestad, Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food – Dept. for Agricultural Policy – Trade Policy Section. Mr Skjulestad will cover the bilateral agreement on agriculture, trade policy, regulations and tariff concessions.

Aud Skrudland, Veterinarian and Special Inspector at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Ms Skrudland will cover veterinary regulations, documents, certifications and requirements for importers and exporters entering the Norwegian market.

Alexander Schjøll, Senior Researcher Oslo Metropolitan UniversityConsumption Policy and Economics. Mr Schjøll will elaborate further on Norwegian consumer trends, market entry, distribution, and price formation.
