Norwegian-Ukrainian Cooperation in Defense: Strengthening Ukraine’s Air Security

Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, recently met with the leadership of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to discuss plans for joint projects. The discussions focused on enhancing Ukraine’s air defense by leveraging the expertise and experience of both nations. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, known for producing NASAMS air defense systems, plays a key role in these efforts.

Following the meeting, Minister Smetanin wrote on his Telegram channel:

"A productive meeting with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace – the producer of NASAMS air defense systems. We discussed cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and plan to implement several joint projects combining Ukrainian expertise with Norwegian innovations."

He also expressed gratitude for the supportive dialogue and commitment from Norwegian partners, emphasizing that Ukraine works every day to protect its skies, and international cooperation makes us stronger.
