NUCC and Bilfinger unveil comprehensive report on Ukraine’s AgriTech sector at AgriTech Nordic Conference
Stenkjær, Norway – The Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (NUCC) recently participated in the AgriTech Nordic conference, presenting a newly released report on the state of Ukraine's AgriTech sector. This detailed study, created in collaboration with Bilfinger and Innovation Norway, highlights the immense potential for innovation, cooperation and investment in Ukraine's agricultural technology market.
Ukraine, often referred to as the "breadbasket of Europe," boasts 68.5% of arable land, making it one of the most fertile countries globally. Despite the war’s significant impact—resulting in $80 billion in agricultural damages—the report highlights a resilient sector actively adopting innovative technologies to counter current challenges. The report identifies key technologies like precision agriculture, AI-driven data management, smart machinery, and biotechnology as pivotal in driving Ukraine’s agricultural recovery and sustainability efforts.
One of the most notable opportunities outlined in the report is the potential for international collaboration, particularly with Norwegian companies. Norway, with only 2.7% of arable land, has managed to significantly outperform Ukraine in terms of agricultural productivity due to its advanced AgriTech solutions. Norwegian firms specializing in precision farming and AI-driven technologies can offer much-needed expertise to boost productivity and sustainability in Ukraine.
The report also draws attention to several promising areas for investment, such as:
- Biogas and Biomethane Production: Ukraine plans to invest $20 billion in biogas plants, which align with the country's goal to enhance energy independence and sustainability.
- Precision Agriculture: advanced technologies such as GPS-driven equipment, drone sprayers, and AI-based analytics are being rapidly integrated to improve efficiency and reduce resource usage.
- Value-added Processing: as Ukraine continues to shift towards deep processing of agricultural goods, this sector offers significant potential for foreign investors.
The report provides a detailed introduction and summary of Ukraine’s AgriTech landscape, including the impact of the ongoing war and opportunities for international growth.
