The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with NUCC

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, met with Project Manager at Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Arnfinn Nordbo, NUCC Energy Project Manager Henrik Seip and NUCC Office Manager Andrii Atroshchenko in Oslo, 11th of September.Meeting with Turchynov v2

In the beginning of the meeting, Oleksandr Turchynov assured that there is strong political will in Ukraine government assured that there is strong political will in Ukraine’s government to peace, democracy, reforms and economic development. “We wish to establish attractive conditions for investors,” stressed Oleksandr Turchynov and underlined that the government is planning to adopt important legislative initiatives, aimed at fighting corruption. “Verkhovna Rada is preparing new laws in the tax sector to make tax policy more transparent and understandable for foreign companies and investors. Also we transform Ukrainian legislation in accordance with EU requirements in order to implement visa-free regime”, – said Mr. Turchynov.

Project Manager Arnfinn Nordbo presented NUCC and assured that our organization is a true friend of Ukraine and NUCC will do its utmost to support Ukraine in its struggle for democracy, freedom and prosperity. Right now the Chamber implements several projects between Norway and Ukraine, such as: “Good Corporate Governance and Business Development in Ukraine”,  and “NUCC Energy Initiative”. Apart from this, NUCC is about to launch a training programme for Ukrainian and Norwegian students and young entrepreneurs in cooperation with Kyiv School of Economics and the University of Nordland, with a view to intensify development of Norwegian-Ukrainian business. “We see A GREAT POTENTIAL IN UKRAINE ,” noted Arnfinn Nordbo.

Energy Project Manager Henrik Seip stressed that Norwegian investments and competence shall contribute to economic growth in Ukraine and the achievement of Ukraine’s energy independence policy. NUCC wants to help Ukraine with expansion of the business based cooperation between Norway and Ukraine within hydrocarbons, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The key point here is better investment climate/business conditions in Ukraine within the energy sector.

Also NUCC presented their plan to establish a new complex project that among other activities includes a “Norwegian-Ukrainian Business Forum” every second year in Kyiv/Oslo. THE FIRST NUBF IS PLANNED TO BE ORGANISED IN CONNECTION WITH Norwegian prime minister Erna Solberg’s visit to Kyiv on 18 November 2014. The aim of the NUBF is to stimulate: a tenfold increase in trade within 2020; increased business cooperation; increased Norwegian investments in Ukraine (and vice versa); increased export/import; more collaboration within academia/education. In the meeting with Mr. Turchynov, NUCC emphasized the interest of Norway to further develop trade relations with Ukraine, especially in the IT/ICT, energy, seafood and agricultural sectores.

As a conclusion the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, said that NUCC’s activity is very professional, and he underlined that Ukraine is very interested in cooperation with Norway in areas such as energy, agro sector, and seafood, including to process and re-export Norwegian seafood abroad.
